UK Search and Rescue Base Locations
The UK Search and Rescue (SAR) service will operate from 10 strategically located bases across the UK. The bases are positioned close to SAR hotspots so that Bristow’s resources can be brought to bear as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The bases are going live in a phased approach. Seven new SAR bases are being built and three existing facilities will be used.

Bristow Helicopters is already delivering SAR services in the UK from Sumburgh and Stornoway under the Gap SAR contract.
Bristow Helicopters has made a significant pre-operational investment in the construction of facilities -- approximately £7 million per new-build base -- in preparation for UK SAR. Each of Bristow’s infrastructure developments for the UK SAR contract is fully compliant with strict environmental criteria.
Working with SAR Partners
Bristow recognizes that close relationships with partners is essential for success. The company’s aircraft and crews have been arriving at each base approximately three months before the go live date to carry out pre-operational activity, including training with other search and rescue organizations.
Bristow Helicopters is grateful to those who have already taken the time to train with the company and looks forward to training with others across the UK as each base goes live. The company is committed to continuing regular training with these organizations throughout the duration of the contract.
